The football community and particularly those of Bartica have suffered a tremendous loss following the death of immediate Past President of the Bartica Football Association (BFA), Mr. Everton Hall, merely one month shy of his 63rd birthday.
Andrea Hall, the deceased only daughter, told Kaieteur Sport that her father was ailing for some time and was a regular visitor to the Caribbean Heart Institute. She said that he was diagnosed with an enlarged heart and blockage of the lungs.
The grieving daughter also said that medical specialists had ordered an angiogram and her dad was scheduled to travel to Trinidad and Tobago as the procedure was unavailable locally.
Ms. Hall said that her dad was initially from Leguan but moved over to Bartica years ago. She said that apart from his involvement in sports he was also a boat builder and was well known in Bartica.
She described her father as a jovial individual with a keen sense of humour. She said that he loved football and was generally a sport-loving individual. She said that he was also the First Vice President of the Wolves United Football Club, also situated in Bartica.
Mr. Hall was always a dedicated and enthusiastic role model to young players and even when he was serving as the President of the Bartica FA he still found time to perform coaching duties.
Footballers of the Liquid Gold FC would fondly remember his viable input when that team participated in the 2010-2011 edition of the Kashif & Shanghai football tournament. He was also the coach of the Under-15 team during that very year.
President (ag) of the Guyana Football Federation Franklin Wilson when contacted for a comment said that he knew Hall very well over the years and had a very cordial relationship with him when he was President of the BFA.
“I recall him being a cool guy and that was interested in doing his best for the upliftment of the sport. He could have been just focused on his business but took the time to give back in some way to the society and youths. After leaving as BFA President, Mr. Hall still found time to guide the youths and that is very commendable.
On behalf of the members of the GFF I would like to convey our deepest sympathy to the wife, children and relatives of the Late Everton Hall.
Mr. Hall is survived by his wife, Stella, daughter, Andrea, sons Avalon and Adrian and his only grandson, Shawn.
Kaieteur Sport wishes to extend heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and urges them to gather strength in the fact that the good Lord always keeps the best for himself. May his soul rest in peace!
