A former cashier accused of pilfering almost $200,000 from the Survival Supermarket, has been charged.
Savitri Ramnauth was yesterday placed on $85,000 bail.
Police said that she stole $198,342 from one of the cash registers at the supermarket.
The incident was said to have taken place on May 22nd while Ramnauth was on duty at the supermarket. The money went missing from the cash register which she was assigned to. She was unable to account for it.
The police were called in and an investigation launched. She was subsequently arrested and brought before the court.
Yesterday, the woman pleaded not guilty to the charge which was read by Magistrate Hazel Octive Hamilton.
