Clearly lacking the necessary practice to challenge the defending champions Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana were made to lick their wounds again when the Caribbean Scalextric Racing Championship ended yesterday , at Rahaman Residence, Rahaman’s Park.
In the only category that was contested on the final day after Guyana was once again handicapped by the absence of some of their marquee players, Under-15 champion Trinidadian Reshad Deane withstood a feisty performance from Elan Rahaman to prevail 80 points to 57.3.
Deane joined fellow countryman Lorne Marshall as eventual champions after the latter defeated Guyana’s Kian Jabour on the opening day of competition to enable a clean sweep for the visitors.
Guyana was hosting the bi-annual championship for the third time with the Trinidadians retaining their Caribbean crown.
Jabour, who spoke on behalf of Guyana thanked the visitors for participating in the competition and even extended thanks to all the other persons associated with organizing the event.
The teams were presented with medals and hampers.
The main sponsors were Rent-A-Tent, Nestle through their Kit-Kat product and JR Burgers.
