Walter ‘Boyd’ Moore heads a list of five (5) ‘Golden Jaguars’ selected on Neal & Massy Caledonia AIA’s 20-man squad to travel to Seattle for the Trinidad &Tobago Club, CONCACAF Club Championship fixture.
The other players are teenagers Trayon ‘Messi’ Bobb, Colin Nelson, Sheldon Holder and goalkeeper Colin Edwards.
Caledonia, the Caribbean Club Champions meet MLS Club Seattle Sounders in Seattle on Tuesday (tomorrow) night. Caledonia’s Technical Director Jamaal Shabazz is also Head Coach of the Guyana National Team.
Commenting on the inclusion of the young Guyanese players Shabazz stated, “Obviously because of my role in Guyana once Caledonia is looking for talent I see what is available here. But at the same time is all out potential and performance.”
“I saw their potential and gave them an opportunity to earn a living in Caledonia. They have made the final squad on performance and now they can use this tournament to market themselves to the wider world.”
Speaking about the encounter with Seattle, Walter Moore was very eager. “We have worked hard to reach here and it will be a good experience to play one of the top MLS teams. The talent that we have in the Caribbean needs opportunity like these to make a better life for ourselves in football.”
“It is important for us at Caledonia to go out there and get a good result,” added Moore.
Diminutive winger Trayon Bobb who hails from Uitvlugt on the West Demerara and brother of former National player Orville Bobb was very excited.
“A game like this is a dream come through for me,” stated Bobb. “I am happy to have gotten this opportunity to become a professional and intend to work very hard to make it to the next level,” he added.
The Caledonia Team to travel: Glenroy Samuels, Colin Edwards (Goalkeepers). Radanfah Abu Bakr, Nuru Muhammad, Aquil Selby, Kemron Purcell, Walter Moore, Colin Nelson, Aubrey David (Defenders). Kareem Joseph, Stephan David (Captain), Keyon Edwards, Cornelius Stewart, Nathan Lewis, Abdallah Phillips, Trayon Bobb (Midfield) Jamal Gay, Sheldon Holder, Trevin Cesar, Conrad Smith.
