Officials of the Guyana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) continues to address their developmental drive when Technical Director (GABA), Terrence Poole and Cuban coach, Francisco Roden leaves the Capital City on Saturday morning on a two day mission to the Ancient County, Berbice, aimed at recognizing new talent for future development.
The visit follows close on the heels of two similar expeditions in Georgetown and Linden where the officials had a first-hand look at available talent in those areas.
Several gyms have recently mushroomed in the Ancient County and GABA officials are desirous of assisting in the development of these pugilists. The gyms to benefit from this initiative include the Rose Hall Jammers, Pocket Rocket Boxing Gym and Central Boxing Gym.
Officials of GABA has demonstrated an alacrity in joining forces with administrators of outlying communities as well as the other administrative regions in an all encompassing move to spread the sport throughout the country. The two coaches will follow a similar pattern upon their return to Georgetown and submit a report to President of GABA, Steve Ninvalle and subsequently huddle to peruse and discuss the reports with an aim of implementing the best module for the boxers’ development. The officials also plan visiting the Essequibo Boxing gym to conduct similar sessions soon.
