Scotiabank/Pepsi School Football Academy….
As part of the ongoing effort to promote and develop female football in Guyana, the organizers of the Scotiabank/Pepsi School Football Academy will be fielding a female team in the upcoming GTT Fastball and Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Female Inter Association Tournaments which is scheduled later in the year.
As such, an ‘All Star Female Team’ has been selected by the committee to undergo training under the watchful eyes of Coaches Joseph Wilson and Andrea Fredricks (Assistant Coach).
Kaieteur Sport speaking with the Coordinator of the Scotiabank/Pepsi School Football Academy, Lawrence Griffith yesterday morning, was made to understand that the team will commence their training sessions on Saturday July 14th from 8am at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground for future female tournaments. Sessions will be kept every Wednesday and Saturday until School resumes in the morning and on Wednesday afternoons only when the summer vacation concludes.
Griffith further stated that the intention of the ‘All Star Female Team is to construct a club which can play in the GFF female tournaments and also to prepare the girls for the CFU U-17 Tournament next year.
Disclosing that great things are in store for the youthful team, the Coordinator unveiled that the team should be making a few overseas tours with the first one set for December to either twin island, Trinidad and Tobago, Dominica, Suriname, Anguilla, Antigua and Bermuda, just to name a few. It was also revealed that teams will be invited to play as well against the ‘All Star Team’ at home.
Griffith in closing stated that things are in store for the Male All Star Team which was identified at the Presentation Ceremony of the Scotiabank/Pepsi School Football Academy Final at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) a few weeks ago. (Juanita Hooper)
