Pocket Rocket Boxing Gym (PRBG) representative, Joel Richardson, treated the small crowd to a classical display of the precision punching and defeated Matthew Hollingsworth of the Five Star Boxing Gym when action in the amateur segment of the 24th edition of Fight Night Guyana concluded at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) Friday evening last.
The diminutive pugilist demonstrated good ring generalship and superb punching skills to overcome Hollingsworth who failed to find a counteracting strategy for the Berbician’s ploy.
Richardson demonstrated great boxing strategy that had his man on the back foot for most of the fight and his 3-0 decision was just reward for a great effort.
Essequibo Boxing gym pugilist, Shaka Moore could consider himself a mite unlucky after he lost out to Ryan Persaud of the Five Star Boxing Gym. Moore is another class act but may have just eased the pressure on his opponent which in the end swayed the decision the other way. In results of the other bouts in the amateur segment, Albert Thomas of the Carryl Boxing Gym in Linden won a 2-1 verdict over Stephon Green (HE) while Christopher Mansfield got the better of Ryan Persaud of the Rose Hall Jammers (RHJ).
Once again, the boxers were presented with large food hampers compliments of furniture giants, Courts Guyana Ltd. The boxers will be on show once again at the CASH on Friday July 27 when the Guyana Boxing Board of Control stages the 25th edition of the programme.
