Dear Editor,
I would like to ask whether there is any Freedom of Speech in Guyana?
Recently, I have noticed that several websites that are critical of the Guyanese opposition has either become dormant or shut down. On the other hand, several websites and blogs that are critical to the PPP/C administration are operating at full capacity peddling propaganda and unsubstantiated claims.
Does freedom of speech apply only to the opposition parties and opposition supporters in Guyana?
I believe that there are two sides to a story. For the opposition to forcefully suppress the views of the supporters of the ruling party is somewhat fascist or communist.
Guyanese should remember that the Constitution is there for a reason. Guyanese should not be intimidated by anyone just for expressing an opinion.
The opposition should play its game fair and desist from intimidating PPP/C supporters from expressing their views.
