One remanded, one freed
The duo in the Corentyne drug bust appeared in court today in front of Magistrate Fabio Azore at Whim Magistrate’s Court.
Taxi driver, Nickel Eastman, 26, of Sandy Babb Street, Kitty; and Cleota Harry, 28, of Ruimveldt, Georgetown were arrested on Sunday when the police on a routine check searched motorcar HC 511 driven by Eastman. Cleota Harry was the lone passenger.
The vehicle was searched in the vicinity of Clifton, Corentyne, and a quantity of drugs suspected to be cannabis was found in the trunk.
Sergeant Playter, the prosecutor, announced that the DPP ruled that no charges are to be made against Cleota Harry.
Nickel Eastman pleaded not guilty. Bail was refused and he will make his next court appearance on July 16, 2012.
