DEAR EDITOR,
I read Ms.LurleneNestor’s tribute to Gregory Gaskin in your newpaper and I couldn’t agree more. She wrote that Gregory was a humble and naturally humorous individual with many positive characteristics that led to his gaining the admiration and respect of those who came to know him.
In my tribute to this wonderful gentleman I would like to highlight something that many did not know. Gregory was not only a lawyer, businessman and family man but also a great animal lover. His wife, Noreen, told me how when Gregory arrived home in the evenings his “night” dogs would form a circle around his vehicle and he would give each of them love and hugs before making his way into the house. In the mornings the “day” dogs would make their way into the house and Gregory would have them around the dining table giving each treats and love. One in particular, rescued from the Pegasus parking lot,and named Buddy, was especially close and protective of Gregory. Most of the Gaskin’s dogs have been rescued from the streets and are dearly loved.
Fortunately I had the opportunity to see the gentle and humane side of Gregory and I thank him and Noreen for taking these dogs into their home and lives and giving them love and hope.
Life, which is so unpredictable, it is not just about money and power. An important part of Gregory’s life was helping to make life better for our voiceless friends. Gregory got the maximum enjoyment from knowing and caring about his dogs.
