Three players of Guyana’s National Rugby team, Rondel Mc Arthur (Most Improved Player) , Claudius Butts (Outstanding Try) and Captain Ryan Gonsalves (Outstanding Player) along with the Physical Trainer, Phillip Browne (Outstanding Service) were rewarded yesterday afternoon in the National Park for their outstanding performance and dedication from their last game in the Southern Zone final of the North American and Caribbean Rugby Association (NACRA) Regional Qualifiers for the 2015 Rugby World Cup against Trinidad and Tobago at the National Stadium.

William Blackman, donating the medals to the three players that assisted in the team inflicting a 20-0 defeat on their opponents and their trainer, Browne stated that he was pleased with the team’s exceptional performance against Trinidad, “Trinidad is a tough opponent, scoring 20 without allowing them to score is highly exceptional,” he said.
Blackman a player of Pepsi Hornets added that presentation which was made is just his way of giving back to the sport that he has been around for a number of years. “This is just my way of giving back to the sport especially to the players who are making an impact more than my days.”
The player who is also a member of the Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) disclosed that he will be making future presentations to the team especially when sterling performances have been produced from their matches.
William applauding the players for stepping up their game during their training sessions hopes that his presentation will stimulate the team as it pertains to their inspiration for the upcoming games. Meanwhile, the team will be departing Guyana on Thursday to play Bermuda on Saturday. (Juanita Hooper)
