The Unity For the Nation Organisation which is led by Physical Fitness Trainer and Sports Organiser Eli Hazel will host a 7 mile Father’s Day Walk/Jog on Sunday from 05:00hrs.
The activity will commence at Canje Turn, Junction of Sheet Anchor, Fort Ordnance, Cumberland and No 2 Villages in East Canje and end at the Regional Administration building, Vryman’s Erven, New Amsterdam.
At the conclusion of the event, Hazel is expected to lead participants and interested other persons in a series of physical workouts. Hazel has been organising walks and fitness activities in recognition of Good Manners, World Health Day, Fathers, Mothers and Emancipation Day among others.
In an invited comment he said that he decided to undertake this venture because he feels that father’s should also be highly recognized. He mentioned that unlike what is being touted; fathers also play an integral role in the upbringing of children and shaping of society. He said that like everybody else fathers are very special people in the world and plays an important role in every day activity especially the rearing of children.
“Many times fathers are left with the job of rearing children and they are not being recognized. Fathers have been going through a lot and are also being unfairly treated. The relevant authorities especially the Police and the Law Courts are the biggest prosecutors. Domestic violence goes both ways.” Sunday’s event is open to all.
