Investigators are still trying to locate the mastermind behind Sunday morning’s robbery at the Church’s Chicken outlet near Bourda Market during which one passerby was shot and the store Manager beaten.
According to police sources they have made several checks around Georgetown but have failed to locate the suspect. The police were able to make the identification after the entire robbery was caught on tape.
Dennis Fitzpatrick of Albouystown, who was shot in one of his legs, is said to be in a stable condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
According to police reports the store Manager, Gregory Degannes, was leaving the fast food outlet with cash when he was confronted by the bandits.
Kaieteur News was told that a supervisor observed two men on a motorcycle acting in a suspicious manner.
She attempted to warn Degannes but then one of the bandits fired a shot at the Manager but hit Fitzpatrick who was shopping nearby.
Degannes tried to retreat into the restaurant but fell, and the men began to beat him. They then snatched a bag containing cash and fled.
This newspaper was told that the suspect is currently on bail, for allegedly committing another robbery. Kaieteur News was told that the suspect currently has over 13 armed robbery matters before the courts.
Only last week, armed bandits escaped with an undisclosed sum of cash after robbing the Church’s Camp Street, Georgetown outlet. According to reports two employees had accidentally left a back door ajar. The two bandits used this opportunity to pounce on the unsuspecting employees. The men then robbed a cashier before escaping.
