With match day just a few days away more and more companies and a
number of prominent individuals are coming on Board with the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) and the Berbice Chamber of Commerce and Development Association (BCCDA) for the history making one day 20/20 charity fund raising cricket extravaganza. The activity which is called the Guyana Independence T20 Cup is slated for Saturday 26th May (Independence Day) at the Albion Community Centre ground.
The latest to show their appreciation for the event are the Delmur Company Limited, with operations both in Berbice and Demerara, New Building Society Limited and Attorneys at law Mursaline Bacchus and Charrandass Persaud, are the latest to come on board for the a joint fund raising venture by the Berbice Cricket Board and the Berbice Chambers of Commerce and Development.
Mr Colin Elcock, Director of the Delmur Company and a cricket fan himself, expressed his confidence in the two charitable organisations which he said are noted for their outstanding work over the years. He said that it is important to give back to the community from where you garner your support and it is also a good thing to help to make a difference in the lives of our people. He stated that his company is always willing to be involved in tangible and worthwhile events and had no hesitation in working along with the two reputable organisations. He is happy that proceeds from this event will go towards charity.
Mrs Subrina Budhoo of NBS said that her employer has over the years contributed significantly to charity, education and sports. She reminded the gathering that NBS is sponsoring cricket tournaments countrywide among other sports. She added that the NBS has faith in Berbice Cricket Board and is pleased with the manner they conduct their business.
The tournament is billed for the Albion Sports Complex on Saturday May 26, 2012 and promises to provide quality entertainment for all patrons. It forms part of the celebrations to mark Guyana’s 46thIndependence Anniversary.
The four teams on board to do battle are Universal DVD Berbice Titans, Karibee Rice Tigers, Hits and Jams Superstars and New Line Cavaliers.
The organising committee is grateful for the support so far and assures the sponsors and general public that it will be a well organised tournament.
Admission to the venue is $500 for Adult and $200 for children with gates opening from 9:00hrs. Tickets will be sold only at the venue and patrons are urged to grab them early.
