Sao Paulo – Social Service of Commerce of Sao Paulo Brazil (SESC), in partnership with the Germany based, Trim & Fitness International Sport for All Association (TAFISA) will join with other conscientious individuals and organizations in promoting sport activities towards health benefits.
Guyana is also committed to participate in this important international event and towards this end, officials of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport (MCY&S), in collaboration with the National Sports Commission (NSC), has organized a series of sport activities, including martial arts and boxing, to commemorate this auspicious occasion. There will also be physical displays by the Guyana Police Force as well as a parachute jumping display by troopers of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF).
Activities get underway at 09:30hrs at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence and several schools along the East Coast Demerara corridor will join with other invitees to engage in a physical warm-up and exercise session for approximately twenty (20) minutes. This activity will be coordinated by popular physical fitness guru, Curtis, shortly before Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Frank Anthony, delivers a motivational talk to set the tone for the day’s activities.
The primary objective of Challenge Day is to introduce new attitudes towards active living by stimulating citizens to break their daily routine and practice any kind of physical activity for at least 15 minutes daily. It is friendly competition in sport that involves people of all stratums, in wholesome physical activity.
More importantly, the event is a fun day that creates awareness and enthusiasm for fitness and active living in participating communities.
