Deputy General Secretary of the Guyana Football Federation George Rutherford has dispatched a congratulatory message to leading Guyanese female football referee, Dianne Ferreira-James on her appointment to officiate in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Japan 2012.
In the letter, Rutherford stated, “Please permit me on behalf of the President ag, Executives and Members of the football family in Guyana to extend our heartfelt congratulations to you on your appointment as a FIFA Referee for the FIFA Women’s Under-20 World Cup in August -September 2012 in Japan.
You have continued to keep the Golden Arrowhead aloft on the International Stage and this is primarily so because of the high level of professionalism and discipline which you have attached to your trade and by continuing to establish yourself as being among the best Referees not only in Guyana but further afield.”
He further stated, “You continue to be a positive inspiration and influence to the other Referees and Assistant Referees on and off of the FIFA list in Guyana, the Caribbean, the Hemisphere, and the World. We at the GFF would like to wish you continued success, God’s continued Blessings, health and strength in being the best that you can be. Continue with your family’s support to set the highest standards for yourself and others. All the best in Japan.”
Ferreira-James has successfully officiated in several World Cups and is the most decorated local football referee, whether male or female. She had indicated that she hopes to be fit enough to officiate in one more senior World Cup before calling it a day.
