An Albouystown resident is in police custody after being found with an illegal handgun in his possession yesterday.
The man was identified as 37-year old Rodwell Joseph of James and King Edward Street, Albouystown.
Police sources had revealed that Joseph is a known character who was implicated with various crimes, including armed robbery. Joseph was also an inmate of the Georgetown Prison in 2010.
According to reports, Police Force’s Tactical Services Unit (TSU) working on information, descended on “Big Yard” in East La Penitence. Joseph frantically exited the yard, jumped on his motorcycle and proceeded to ride away. Police gave chase and apprehended the man, who allegedly had an automatic Glock 17 in his possession.
In 2010, Joseph was also shot twice in his legs after leaving his girlfriend’s home. According to reports, a group of men pulled up in a car and asked him where he was going. He indicated that he was heading to “town” and, according to him; another passenger in the car asked him if he had money.
When he responded in the negative, he said the men jumped out of the vehicle and a scuffle ensued. Joseph said that in his bid to escape he was shot at and sustained injuries to both legs. The men, he added, took his cellular phone and his watch.
