New Silvercity, Christianburg / Wismar, School of Excellence and Mackenzie High were the teams in winners’ row when the Guyana Beach Football Association (GBFA) Inter-Schools Competition opened at the Christianburg facility.
In the opening game, New Silvercity (NSSS) beat Wismar Secondary 6-1 with Jonathan Fredericks hitting in a brace in the 3rd and 5th minutes, while Orlanzo Thorman (6th) David Sanchara (8th), Darius Frank (16th) and Michael Richmond (23rd), also making contributions.
Trevon Archibald’s strike in18th minute was the consolation goal for Wismar.
Christianburg / Wismar (CWSS) then defeated Marcia Craig’s Educational Institute 6-0.
For the winners, Yannick Simon (8th and 17th), Jamal Croal (9th and 24th), Omeion Wills (1st) and Jermaine Granville (16th) were the players on target.
School of Excellence (SOE) then eased past Harmony 4-2.
On target for SOE were Anfernee Couchman (12th), Colis Browne (23rd), Caleb Ettienne (20th) and Chaka Hall (30th).
For Harmony, Julian Fortune (13th) and Michael Peters (29th) were the players to respond.
Mackenzie High (MHS) then disposed of Linden Foundation Secondary (LFS) by a 4-1 margin.
For MHS, Jermaine Josiah (8th), Sheldon Williams (18th), Kellon Primo (22nd) and Akeem Singh (28th) were the goal-scorers.
Massiah Joseph (6th) made the lone response for LFS.
After Round 1, the points standing are as follows: MHS 3, NSSS 3, SOE 3, CWSS 3, LFSS 0, Harmony 0, MCI 0 and WSS 0.
