Regional Chairman’s quarters cleared at last

Residents of Mahdia have reported that within hours of an article in Kaieteur News highlighting ‘political spite’ aimed at the office of the Regional Chairman the overgrown weed surrounding his living quarters has been cleared.
Early last week some weeding was done around central Mahdia clearing the parapet at several government and other public service agencies. However, the weeding was stopped at the fence surrounding the living quarters of the Regional Chairman Mark Crawford.
This incident sparked outrage among residents as well as several Parliamentarians who had visited the area.
APNU Parliamentarian Ronald Bulkan who had spoken out on the issues said that Crawford was given the treatment like columnist Freddie Kissoon when workers of the government cleared a canal in front of his home but ignored the portion of canal at his residence.
Yesterday, this publication was told that the workers were seen weeding the area surrounding the Chairman’s quarters yesterday morning.
As it relates to the garbage situation which was highlighted, it has been reported that funds have been garnered from members of the business community and that works will commence as early as today. The business community with the assistance of  Regional Chairman Crawford, has managed to solicit the services of an excavator  which will be used to clear the garbage that has been piling up at Red Hole front.
More than a month has elapsed since the Regional Chairman had requested the use of the regional excavator to clear the garbage. The request was made to the Regional Executive Officer, Ronald Harsaywack who had reported to residents as well as to the Chairman that the excavator was too small for the job.
