Competition in the Guyana Football Federation Super League sponsored by FIFA under the Win in CONCACAF with CONCACAF Initiative will continue this evening at the GFC Ground in the city with one game.
Table toppers and defending champions Alpha United will take on West Demerara’s Den Amstel FC which has given a good account of themselves in their debut season at this level.
Alpha are on 16 points from 6 matches played to date while Den Amstel occupy the 5th place with 12 points, playing one more game than Alpha. Tonight’s match-up is expected to produce keen plays as both teams aim to further solidify their positions.
Alpha is the only unbeaten team in the league and will be putting that record on the line against a determined Den Amstel unit that has lost just one game to date. A win for the West Demerara side will see them moving to 3rd place and 15 points.
Meanwhile, last evening saw an all Linden affair when Milerock and Amelia’s Ward United met at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground. Amelia’s Ward are 3rd in the standings on 15 points from 8 games while Milerock have mustered 8 points from 6 games.
Milerock lost one of their games by default after they played an unregistered player against Den Amstel.
Another encounter is set for Saturday at the GFC Ground from 18:00hrs when BK International Western Tigers match skills with East Demerara’s Victoria Kings. The Kings are lagging on 2 points from 8 games while the Tigers are behind Alpha in 2nd place with 16 points from 7 games with one defeat against Milerock in their 1st game of the League.
Since that loss, the Tigers have remained unbeaten drawing with the defending champions.
