The police are seeking the assistance of the public to identify the body of a man who was found early yesterday morning on the Versailles Public Road West Bank Demerara.
According to reports the man, who is of Amerindian descent. was found at around 08:00 hours yesterday morning. This publication was told that the man was found clad in a pair of blue denim jeans, a blue jersey and a pair of red and white sneakers. The man is believed to be in his early 30’s.
Meanwhile up to press time yesterday the body was lying at the Ezekiel Funeral home at Best Village on the West Coast Demerara. There are reports that the man was thrown from a route 32 minibus shortly before the discovery.
Persons in the area reported to the police that they noticed a minibus pulling up a few yards away from the Aracari Resort, but paid it no mind.
However after the minibus drove off the man was seen lying in the parapet. Minutes passed and when the man did not get up, a few persons went to check and found that the man was not breathing and appeared dead.
The police were summoned to the area and it was confirmed that the man was dead. Undertakers from the Ezekiel Funeral Parlour were also summoned and the man’s body was taken away. According to reports, that man’s body bore several bruises and lacerations.
Late yesterday afternoon a family went to the Parlour after hearing about the incident to see if the dead man was related to them since they have a missing relative. However after viewing the man’s body they realized that he was not related to them.
Investigations are ongoing.
