Students, Parents, Teachers and members of the Ministry of Education, yesterday
gathered at the Charlestown Secondary School to honour a woman who they all concurred, served as a hardworking and dedicated headteacher for the past 10 years.
Ms. Shirley Bryan, a former student of the same institution, has now retired. She started out as a trainee teacher since 1976, and advanced in her field until she assumed the post of Head Teacher at the school which she stressed “made me what I have become”.
Songs, poems, speeches and tokens of appreciation, were extended to Ms. Bryan by students, fellow teachers and her former teacher, Mr. Adam Harris, Editor in Chief of the Kaieteur News.
