The Ross & Bush senior male KO football tournament, promoted by former Referee Mr. Ainsworth Ross, now residing in the USA, kicked off on Saturday last with a doubleheader at the #5 Playfield, which saw resounding victories for NA United and Rosignol United.
The first match at 13:30hrs resulted in N/A United making light work of the Hardlanders FC (of Ithaca) with a 7goals to nil victory. Hat-tricks from Adrian Adams in the 19, 28 & 56 minutes and Delroy Ferdinand in the 39, 65 & 74 minutes along with one from Leonardo Adams in the 40th completed the demolition.
In the second match of the double header, Rosignol United thrashed Manchester United (of Manchester Corentyne) by 6 goals to nil. A hat-trick by Delroy Fraser in the 3rd, 20th, & 74th minutes, a brace by Leslie Amsterdam in the 63rd & 80th and one from Keiron Lynch in the 48th completed the thrashing of Manchester. There was one caution each to Hardlanders and Rosignol for unsporting behaviour.
The tournament continued on Sunday last with a second double header at the same venue. Cougars whipped Courtland United 8 goals to nil with hat-tricks from Winston Benjamin and one to Stephon DeFlorimonte in the first half, which ended 4 nil. Kelvin Joseph with 3 consecutive goals and one from Alvin Reynolds in the second half closed the deal for Cougars.
In the second match, home team, Monedderlust were made to work hard for their 2 – nil victory with goals in each half from Lon Johashen 30th and Seon Watts 85th.
There was one caution each for Monedderlust and Hopetown United for unsporting behavior.
The tournament continues with semi-final matches, which sees a clash of the 4 top teams at the #5 Playfield on Saturday March 31 starting at 13:30hrs.
