A 37-year-old man sustained burns about his body while working with a Guyana Power
and Light Incorporated crew at Houston, East Bank Demerara last Thursday.
Earl Langhorn of Sophia is currently a patient at the Burns Care Unit of the Georgetown Hospital with severe burns to his left hand and other body parts.
Longhorn cannot recall what caused his injuries, since he blacked out on the worksite and only awoke in the hospital hours later.
He told this newspaper that he and other crew members were carrying out work in Houston which involved weeding the area around a GPL transformer.
He said that after the job was completed, they were about to board their transportation to head back to the city when they received instructions to remain at the site.
“We were just checking around and from then on, I don’t remember anything. I have no information because I haven’t got the chance to talk to my co-workers to hear what happened,” Langhorn said.
According to reports reaching this newspaper, Longhorn came into contact with a high voltage electric wire and was severely shocked.
