The body of popular minibus tout Wayne Matthews was found at around 20:00 hrs yesterday in Flying Fish Street, Festival City, a short distance from his home.
Police said that there were no discernable injuries on the body and they believe that the 43-year-old man collapsed and died from natural causes while heading to his Lot 2284 Flying Fish Street home.
The man’s elder brother, Cyril Matthews, said that a resident saw his sibling lying on the roadway and alerted them. A niece said that ranks from a police vehicle placed her uncle on the western parapet. According to the young lady, she was told that he was still alive but that his pulse was weak.
She said that relatives were preparing to take her uncle to the hospital but the ranks then informed them that he had died.
Matthews was a well known figure at the Stabroek Market tarmac soliciting passengers for route 41 minibuses.
He is survived by two children, aged 21 and 19.
