A 21-year-old man of Third Street, Tain, Corentyne, lost his life after a concrete wall and beam on a house he and some other construction workers were building, collapsed on Saturday evening, injuring him severely.
Mahesh Chattergoon died a few hours later, around 01:00 h on Sunday, at the Port Mourant Hospital.
Chattergoon was employed with Feroze Construction of Tain, Corentyne, and they were building a concrete house at Port Mourant, adjacent to the Hooters Bar.
The wall and beam collapsed sometime around 19:00hrs Saturday, and Chattergoon was immediately rushed to the hospital in a critical state. He had received multiple injuries about his body including broken limbs.
The young man leaves to mourn his wife and one-month-old daughter.
According to his relatives, the contractor will offset funeral and other expenses which the family may have at this time.
