Don’t ask me how the discrepancies ALLEGEDLY uncovered by APNU can affect the presidency and not the make-up of the parliament. Ah don’t know. Ah can’t explain.
Even APNU may not be able to explain it. So don’t ask me.
Ah don’t know also how the GCB can name a team when there is no executive in place. Ah don’t know. Ah can’t explain. So don’t ask me.
Ah don’t know also how one man can receive a cheque for $320,000 dollars and still claim that he did not receive a single cent. Ah, don’t know. Ah can’t explain, so don’t ask me.
Ah don’t know also how someone can be claiming that no standing order can abridge a constitutional right to free expression. Ah ask if someone from an accounting firm who has access to information about a client’s account is free to reveal that information to the public, since that person’s constitutional right to free expression cannot be abridged by any confidential agreement that is signed? Or that a doctor can threaten to go public about the details of one of his patients without regard to the client’s confidentiality. Ah don’t know. Ah can’t explain. So don’t ask me.
Don’t ask me also what the president of Guyana meant when he said that he was pleased by what he saw of the Amaila Falls Access Road. Ah don’t know if the president did engineering or if he has powers to look at a road and determine how strong it is. Ah don’t know. Ah can’t explain. So please don’t ask me.
Ah don’t know how anyone can contend that the assault on corruption must begin with the establishment and empowerment of institutions. Ah can’t explain. What I know is that men of integrity and decency have always made a difference and that such men are required for the empowerment and establishment of institutions.
Ah don’t know why anyone would want to suggest that Vic Puran go after the assets of one of his previous clients. This would be a conflict of interest. So ah don’t know what is behind that suggestion. Ah really cannot say.
Ah don’t know why when the man put on his socks he toes bore right through it. Ah don’t know whether it was the man’s toes or the socks. Ah really don’t know. Ah can’t explain. So please do not ask.
Ah can’t answer the question of the man who ask, “What is a beach?” Ah know a beach must have sand. Ah know a beach must lead to water. Ah don’t know anything more. Ah willing to learn because ah can’t explain.
Ah can’t explain also why so many doctors and lawyers have not yet submitted their tax certificates. These are usually lucrative professions, and therefore it is surprising that so many are delinquent. But ah can’t also explain why any tax department would engage in a name and shame operation? Is this how business is done. The very people who pay the taxes that pay the tax workers have to be named and shamed in order for them to pay up. Ah don’t know. Ah can’t explain.
Is the same thing with the La Niña phenomenon. We were told that it would last till April. But the place dry these days. So where is the rain? Or does La Niña mean dry and wet extremes of weather. Ah don’t know. Ah can’t say.
Just as I can’t say whether the Budget will be passed on time or whether public sector workers will be left wondering when their next paycheck will arrive.
Deh gat a number of things that ah want fuh know, like the name of dem investors in the Marriott Project; why hydro costs so expensive; how much the government sell Sanata for, and what happen when we discover oil.
All dem thing, people can tell me. They can explain to me and the people of Guyana.
Dem a big thing; dem ah important thing. Just asking!
