The Committee, Chief Librarian and Staff of the National Library have
expressed their gratitude to Gafsons Industries Limited for its generous donation to the Annual Inter-School Quiz Competition.
The Gafoors have willingly partnered with the Library for the past two years in sponsoring the entire competition.
The Library stressed that through the event, it endeavours to enable students to develop their reading and research skills, increase their retention capacity and enhance their study habits, among other objectives.
The competition is open to two categories of participants. Category One: 9-12 years old – Primary and Category 2: 14-15 years old – Secondary.
Participating schools this year are: St. Gabriels Primary, South Ruimveldt Park Primary, Den Amstel Primary, Leonora Primary, Soesdyke Primary, McKenzie Primary, New Amsterdam Primary, Cotton Tree Primary, South Ruimveldt Park Secondary, Richard Ishmael Secondary, Leonora Secondary, Zeeburg Secondary, West Demerara Secondary, L’Adventure Secondary, Vrymans Erven Secondary and Linden Foundation Secondary
The competition is scheduled to commence on April 23 and conclude on May 14.
Individual prizes will be monetary, trophies and books. The winning and runner–up schools will also receive prizes.
