Ministry of Sport rejects Lawyer’s mischief
It has just been brought to the Ministry’s attention that Attorney-at-Law Sanjeev Datadin, have been causing mischievous statements, alleging that Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Hon. Dr. Frank Anthony is in contempt of some Caribbean court of Justice (CCJ) proceeding.
The Minister and Ministry reject this wild allegation utterly. The Ministry of Sport is left to speculate about attorney Datadin’s motives for his published mischief although it has a shrewd idea of his professional ambitions.
The fact is that the former Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) members Chetram Singh and Lionel Jaikarran in whose names CCJ Case Number APL1 of 2012 was filed, have long resigned as Trustees of the GCB and have also instructed Mr. Datadin to relieve them as representatives of the Guyana Cricket Board in the matter taken before the CCJ.
For ease of reference copies of the relevant correspondence from the two gentlemen are attached. Allegations by Datadin of some imagined acts of “intimidation, oppression and terror” by the Minister of Sport are therefore, baseless and extremely mischievous. Both the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport and the Attorney General are considering options to confront Attorney Datadin’s unprofessional and rogue like behavior whilst citing the esteemed CCJ.
Assuming that Attorney Datadin has an immediate agenda for raising his professional profile with an eye to future (Regional) engagements, the Ministry advises that he should not include character assassination in his career armory.
