A thirty six year old man of Siberien/Old England in Region 10 was yesterday afternoon electrocuted after he attempted to hook up an illegal electrical connection to his residence.
According to reports, John Crandon was electrocuted after he slipped and fell into the nearby Dorabisi Creek, while attempting the connection.
His reputed wife Roseanne Lambert was inconsolable and kept asking “Why me, Why me- Why you had to go and lef me John, John- why?”
Lambert said that she had warned her husband against doing the connection, but he didn’t listen to her and went ahead anyway.
“He was such a good man, so helpful, so loving, where I go find another man like he. He used to help me to do anything, and only today (yesterday) we get the frame for we house because we plan to build we own house because the one we been living in is me uncle own. He promised me he woulda build the house heself, now he gone, O God why, why?’’ the woman wailed inconsolably.
Neighbours and relatives were also high in praise of Crandon, describing him as a Jack of all trades, who could do anything.
‘He was a plumber, a mason, a carpenter, an electrician and a technician, you know how many people he helped since he come to this community,” Crandon’s sister-in-law reminisced sadly.
Residents of the community expressed regret at the way the man met his demise- many of them opining that some persons were forced to do illegal connections because several applications have been sent to the Linden Electricity Incorporated (LECI) in vain.
Meanwhile, a Senior Official of LECI said he was saddened by the incident which he described as very unfortunate. He however refuted the claims made by residents, concerning their applying for lights in vain.
“I personally went into that very area where that incident occurred and had illegal connections removed, only to return a few days later to see the same connections back in place,” the man added.
