Radesh Garib and Claude Howard, 40, of Timmers Dam Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, were on Friday both jailed for four years by Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo after pleading guilty to two counts each of break and enter and larceny.
They appeared in the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court.
Prosecutor, Corporal Roberto Figueira stated that between Friday, March 9 and Saturday, March 10 2012 at Church Street New Amsterdam the men broke and entered Tessa Hair Dressing Salon owned by Tessa Trim. They carried away a generator, a quantity of DVDs and hair products valued at $360,000.
The items were not recovered.
The other charge is that on the same night the men broke into the Five Star Salon and Nail Shop also at Church Street, owned by Melissa April and stole a quantity of items including an air brush compressor, electric shaving set, Adidas sneakers and other boots, 26 jerseys, a quantity of briefs, iPods, 12 bottles of shampoo, 12 bottles of conditioner and a number of bottles of body wash and shower gels. The items valued $142,000.
The matters were reported and after conducting investigations the men were arrested and charged. They pleaded guilty and were sentenced to two years in jail on each matter. The sentences will run concurrently.
