Euleen Josiah-Tanner, a southwest Atlanta resident, won first place overall at the annual silver comet
Euleen Josiah-Tanner during her Hunger Walk and Run 5km at Turner Field last Sunday in Atlanta, Georgia.
10km road race last Saturday and returned to win the Hunger Walk and Run 5km at Turner Field the following day (last Sunday) in Atlanta, Georgia.
Josiah-Tanner finished the 10km course race in 37:21 minutes ahead of her opponents when she continued her athletic career which sparked as a teenager years ago.
Following her superb performance, Josiah-Tanner who represented St. Pau’s Episcopal Church, continued her dominance when she entered the Hunger Walk and Run 5km which attracts 10,000-plus participants every year, Josiah-Tanner completed and won the race in a time of 17:25 minutes.
In addition to last Sunday’s win, Josiah-Tanner has placed (overall) in the following races: 1st Place, the 2006 Jamaica Negril Marathon; 2nd Place, the 2007 Jamaica Negril Marathon; 3rd place, the 2007 South American 10k Classic; 1st Place, the 2009 and 2010 South DeKalb Striders 5k For Hope; 1st Place, the 2009 Strong Legs 5km Run; 1st Place, the 2010 Hope Clinic 5km; 1st Place, the 2010 Downtown Dash for Diabetes; and 1st Place, the 2010 Macon, Ga., Labor Day 10km. Josiah-Tanner also was the first female Caribbean finisher for the 2010 Run Barbados Powerade Marathon.
The athlete, who stated that she’s feeling great for the Publix 5k that was scheduled for yesterday and for the new athletic season, said that she will be partaking in most of the Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG) road races.
According the amended 2012 AAG calendar, four road races will get underway in the latter part of the season, the races are as follow: Ainlim 10km road race (16 September), Courts 10km road race (7 October), IAAF/SA 10km road classic (21 October) and the Banks DIH 5km road run.
