Dear Editor,
We the people of Charity are appealing to the Home Affairs Minister and even the Guyana Police Force to return Sergeant English to our community as soon as possible, this community was a very quiet and peaceful one since our Sergeant has been here.
Before it wasn’t even safe to go out at nights because there were a lot of crimes, robberies, rape and even teenagers out of control. We the residents have seen and experienced it all.
But since Sergeant English came to Charity it has become peaceful and safe. He is the only sergeant you could see patrolling the roadways and even streets at nights, even into the morning hours, making it safe and making sure that we the residents could sleep peacefully at nights and even if there is a situation where we need assistance or help, we could get him on the phone at the station and even his personal cell phone at any time, and he would be there himself.
If the authorities put all the facts together and do their investigation they would see what we are saying to be true. There are a lot of criminals that he has put away.
Charity as you know is a port of entry and it’s also home to most of the gold miners.
It’s just been a few days of his absence and already the situation is going out of control. One resident reported that only last Monday, there was an incident where the Police help was needed that they ran the station phone and were hung up on.
We are pleading with the authorities to look into this matter as soon as possible. Think of the safety of the business entities, the residents and most of all the lives of our youths.
We do hope you consider our plight in trying to make our community a safe one.
We will be waiting in anticipation for an answer.
