-masked killers escape in car
Leonard Mahadeo, a Diamond resident was last evening gunned down in cold blood shortly before midnight at a popular Eccles, East Bank Demerara drinking spot.
According to reports, Mahadeo who would usually walk with an entourage of bodyguards was drinking with a friend last night in the Soca Paradise establishment when two masked men exited a silver Premio, calmly walked into the drinking spot and fired a barrage of bullets.
Residents in the area recalled hearing about two shots fired after which another volley of about 10 shots was heard.
This sent the waitresses at Soca Paradise scampering for cover even as Mahadeo’s lone drinking buddy was unhurt.
The gunmen calmly walked out and sped away in the car.
Execution was clearly the motive as the gunmen did not attempt to rob either Mahadeo or his drinking partner.
Scores of police ranks converged on the scene as well as curious neighbors and while no ballistics experts were on hand, some experienced ranks surmised that the killers used assault rifle rounds, given the size of the shells recovered.
Mahadeo’s bullet riddled body was left lying in a pool of blood for several hours as detectives tried to piece together the information gathered.
