The Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club (RHTY&SC) on Friday March 2, 2012 received its latest accolade in the 22-year history of the club after being presented with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) 2011 Award for Sports Development.
The Club’s Patron Ms. Beverley Harper received the Award on behalf of the club from Guyana’s President Donald Ramotar when the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) held its Annual Awards and Appreciation Ceremony, at the Georgetown Club.
The club in a release stated that the Patron, President, Executive Committee and Members of Guyana’s leading youth and sports club are very proud of the Award. “As the nation of Guyana is fully aware, the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club over the past twenty-two years has worked every day beyond the call of duty to make a positive difference in the lives of youths, the elderly and less fortunate under numerous programmes and activities under their sports, youth development, pro-education & anti-drug, religious, community development and charity programmes.
We are proud of our activities and achievements over the years and the IOC 2011 Award would serve as an inspiration to us to maintain our standard and to raise it even higher in the future.
We dedicate this Award to all our official sponsors and numerous donors who have supported us over the years. Special mention must be made of GT&T, Bakewell, Ansa Mc Al Trading, Guyana Beverage Inc., Banks DIH Ltd, Gizmos & Gadgets, Farfan & Mendes, Metro Office and Computer Supplies, Scotia Bank, Republic Bank, Demerara Bank, DDL Pepsi, Food for the Poor (Guy) Inc, Universal DVD, Beharry’s, Sterling Products and Western Union.
We also share this Award with the residents of our township and Berbice and also the numerous volunteers who assist us on a daily basis to make positive differences. Finally we would like to acknowledge the support of our friends at Kaieteur News, Guyana Times, Guyana Chronicle, Stabroek News, DTV-8, LRTVS-CH10, TVG, and NCN who have assisted us to inform the nation of our work.
