Reigning champion seeking 4th overall title
Fitness Express, a business entity located at John & Sheriff Streets, Campbellville exhibited beyond the shadow of a doubt that they understand their role when it comes to supporting athletes in their quest for glory after pledging full sponsorship to national powerlifter Randolph ‘The Accomplisher’ Morgan’s airfare.
In its own small way, Fitness Express continues to lend valuable support and the latest athlete to benefit from their generosity is Guyana’s most accomplished powerlifter Morgan who will be leading the country’s charge for team and individual glory at the 6th Annual International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) / North American Powerlifting Federation (NAPF) / Caribbean Championships March 28 -31, 2012, at the University of the Virgin Islands, Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas.
Manager of Fitness Express Jamie Mc Donald presented a cheque to Morgan at the entity’s store which will cover the cost of his airfare to the USVI. In handing over the cheque, Mc Donald told Morgan that Fitness Express was confident that he will keep the Golden Arrowhead aloft and that’s the reason why they had no hesitation in making such a contribution.
“Fitness Express is still young in the business but we have been impressed with the level of talent that we have seen in Guyana and would like to make our contribution towards that talent reaching its maximum. We continue to support powerlifting in Guyana and since Mr. Morgan is the reigning Caribbean champ we feel confident that he will do us proud and bring home the gold for Guyana once again.”
Morgan, Mc Donald stated, is a phenomenal athlete who is very committed and disciplined when it comes to his sport and his life in general.
Powerlifting, Mc Donald reminded has been very consistent in terms of medaling at the Caribbean, Regional and International levels. He commended the Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPF) for its consistency and is wishing Team Guyana the best in its quest to reclaim the team title at the upcoming competition in the USVI.
The GAPF has named a 12-member team for the championships with Guyana’s top female Dawn Mc Cammon-Barker leading the female charge. Some 73 athletes from 8 countries will contest the championships.
