The 2012 season of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) is set to bowl off on Saturday, March 17 according to a release from the entity’s Special Events Committee. In a release, it was indicated that the season is expected to be one of the busiest in the history of the County and players, clubs and fans are asked to take note.
Following is a list of the tournaments to be played.
a) Under-13 – Inter Club and Inter Zone – Date of Birth – September 1, 1999.
b) Under-15 – Tenelec Inc. Under-15 Inter Club and NCN Inter Zone – Date of Birth – September 1, 1997.
c) Under-17 – Memorex/Leslie Amsterdam Memorial Inter Club and Republic Bank Inter Zone – Date of Birth – September 1, 1995.
d) Under-19 – Elizabeth Style Inter Club and Diamond Fire & General Insurance Inter Zone.
e) Under-21 – Elizabeth Style Inter Club.
f) Female – Universal DVD Inter Club.
g) Second Division – NBS Inter Club and Neal & Massy Intermediate.
h) First Division – Carib T20, Universal DVD T20, Ramcharitar Construction 50 overs and Tenelec Inc. 50 overs.
i) School – A. Ally & Sons Under-17 Inter School.
j) Berbice River – Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club Inter Club.
k) West Berbice – Norman Singh T20 Memorial, Hand in Hand 40 overs and Jumbo Jet/RHTY&SC Inter Zone.
l) New Amsterdam/Canje – Bobcat of Guyana T20 Inter Club and two-day.
m) Upper Corentyne – T20 Inter Club, 40 overs second division and 4 team Inter Secondary School.
All clubs in Berbice are asked to register their list of players for the season with the BCB as early as possible. Chairman of the BCB Special Events Committee, Hilbert Foster has warned clubs that no walk overs would be allowed and any team which fails to complete its fixture would not be allowed to play in another tournament for the year.
The Board is urging the clubs to fully cooperate so that all the tournaments can be completed by the December 31.
