– Rosignol and Pele draws 1-1
BK Western Tigers, Alpha United, Milerock and Amelia’s Ward crushed their challengers while Rosignol United and Pele drew as play continues in the second round the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) 2012 Super League (SL) last Sunday at various venues around Guyana.
With the only match kicking off at Blairmont ground from 15:30hrs, Rosignol United and Pele concluded on a nil all draw after defending their territory from the first and last whistle of the referee.
Playing double headers at Beterverwagting ground, BK Western Tigers were able to hunt their prey Buxton United in the early part of the first half. Paul Giles being the man to give his team victory over Buxton United netted the goal in the 13th minute.
In game two, Guyana’s top football club, Alpha United routed Victoria Kings by 2 goals to nil. The first goal came in the first half by National Player, Anthony ‘Awo’ Abrams in the 7th minute; Chris Camacho sealed the account when he scored in the 53rd minute.
The previous Sunday game in Linden at the McKenzie Sports Club (MSC) ground saw Alpha United defeating Amelia’s Ward 2-0; Abrams contributed to that score with the final goal in the 92nd minute.
At MSC ground, Milerock continued to display their superiority after nailing Den Amstel 2-nil. BK Western Tigers was the first to face defeat from Milerock.
Milerock’s account was opened by Jermaine Fordyce in the 1st minute; Germaine McBean assisted with another goal in the 30th min to put up the shutters against Den Amstel.
Amelia’s Ward defeated Seawall by 2 goals in final game of the evening. After battling, Amelia’s Ward Goal was scored by Terrence Aaron in the first half and by Gavin Daw in the second half. Aaron’s goal was logged in 38th minute, while Daw netted in the 64th minute.
At the conclusion of round two matches: Alpha United and Milerock lead the points standing with 6 points each from 2 wins, followed by Rosignol United on 4 points with 1 win and a draw. Western Tigers, Amelia’s Ward, Den Amstel and Sewall United are all on 3 points with 1 win and 1 loss.
Pele, who defeated Sewall by 7 goals to 1, lost that game after Seawall protested the eligibility of Gregory Richardson. Richardson played for Pele although he was not in receipt of an International Transfer which would have made him eligible to represent Pele. They are on 1 point with a loss and a draw. Buxton United and Victoria Kings are yet to earn a point after 2 losses each.
On Saturday Alpha United and BCC Rosignol United will clash from 19:00hrs at the Georgetown Football Club ground.
GFF Super League Games continues the following day (Sunday 18th) with 5 games on at 3 venues.
At Uitvlugt ground, Seawall and Western Tigers will collide at 13:45 hrs and at 15:45 hrs Den Amstel and Pele will battle.
Up in the Mining Town, the boys from the Westside (Den Amstel) will try to turn the tables and earn their 1st points at 18:30 hrs against Buxton United; in the main event at 20:30 hrs, Milerock will defend their turf against Victoria Kings.
