6th IPF/NAPF C/bean Powerlifting C/ships – USVI…Guyana’s Powerlifters in with a good chance to reclaim Team C/ship
Guyana’s strongmen and women led by Randolph ‘The Accomplisher’ Morgan and Dawn ‘The Cool Destroyer’ Barker are set to invade the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) this month end with one aim, that is to re-claim the team championships apart from sweeping the individual categories at the 6th Annual International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) / North American Powerlifting Federation (NAPF) / Caribbean Championships March 28 -31, 2012 at the University of the Virgin Islands, Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas.
Based on the final nominations for competition, overall a total of 73 athletes from a list of 105 from eight (8) member federations will go head to head and according to reports out of the USVI, this year’s championships will be the largest ever; the Bahamas pulled out from attending just before the end of the nomination deadline.
Team Guyana will start as the front runners but will find as usual, stiff competition coming from neighbours Trinidad and Tobago who won the Team Championship last year due to Guyana not being able to send a full strength team, that however will not be the case this time around and the Trinis are in for a real surprise.
Also gunning to keep Guyana at bay will be the British Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, United States of America and the host country. Based on predictions, it is being forecasted that the title will come down to the final deadlift of the championship. 
NAPF Secretary General, Robert Keller reported that the USVI Powerlifting Committee led by Mr. Robert Massey has down a fantastic job to date in ensuring that all systems are in place for a memorable time.
