Tournament debutant Kwakwani Secondary School got their hunt for championship
honours off to a good start when they returned home after securing a win and a draw over the weekend when play in this year’s Edward ‘Screw’ Richmond Memorial Schools Football Competition continued, at the MSC ground in Linden.
On Friday, they defeated Marcia Craig’s Educational Institute 2-0 with Rohan Nelson (32nd) and Shameer Viverious (38th) netting the goals.
Then on Saturday, they played to a 1-1 draw against Harmony Secondary with Julian Fortune’s 12th minute strike giving the hosts the lead, before Carlon Johnson’s 32nd minute effort restored parity until the final whistle sounded.
The competition continues today with a double header at the Wisburg Secondary School ground.
In the opening game, Marcia Craig’s Educational Institute go up against Linden Technical Institute, while Mackenzie High School and Wismar Secondary square off.
Play starts at 15:00 hrs.
