Wakenaam labourer held for incest

A 38-year-old Wakenaam labourer is now in custody after it is alleged that he had carnal knowledge of his two primary school daughters aged 11 and 9.
The man, whose wife died about two years ago, was suspected of incestuous behavior for some time now.
This newspaper was told that the school teachers suspected that something was wrong. They questioned the children who did not admit at that time.
Things came to a head when the girls confided in a neighbour who informed the police at Wakenaam and they acted promptly. The man was held. The girls were then taken for a medical examination which confirmed that they were sexually abused.
Charges are expected to be laid shortly.
The girls are now in the care of a relative.
