New comers, Campbellville Secondary drew first blood in a draw during an encounter against defending champions of the Scotia Bank/ Pepsi Schools Football Tournament, Tucville Secondary yesterday afternoon after the official opening of Tournament at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground.
The shocking goal by the newcomers in the first half of the game, which comprises of 35 minutes apiece, left the defending champs who had great ball control and displayed perfect technical skills on the field in disbelief.
After 32 minutes of the players battling and defending their territory, the first goal was scored by Campbellville’s Eukini McPherson in the 33rd minute. With perfect average McPherson curved a spectacular left foot shot which surged right over Tucville’s goalkeeper, Shamar Wilson reach.
Tucville aggressively tried to respond but most of their changes were well secured by goalkeeper Amanacki Ford, who displayed his skills to the excited crowd.
Threatening Keifer Brandt looked like a professional ‘Golden Jaguar’ player as he tried endlessly to make an equalizer for his team but was unsuccessful as the newcomers goalkeeper meant business.
Other players who tried continually in making an equalizer were Courtney Elliot, Michael Campbell and Collin Waterman.
Little Brandt, who moves through the pack smoothly and quickly dribbled three players and even the goalkeeper who stepped out his box to retrieve the ball from the threatening player, but unbalanced, Brandt lost control of the ball and kicked it outside the uprights.
Eventually an equalizer came in the 68th minute when Ryan Blackman volleyed the ball off his right foot into the net to leave his team mates rejoicing.
The two teams both earned one point each after the draw.
