International Women’s Day was celebrated on Thursday March 8, 2012. Following is a message by the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) saluting Women of Guyana and the world.
” Executives and Members of the Guyana Football Federation and the entire Football Fraternity salute Guyanese Women and Women of the World on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
The achievements of Women, and Women in Football, at the international, hemispheric, regional, and national levels have been, and continue to be, commendable and we must endorse the FIFA President, Sepp Blatter, in his recognition that the future of Football is Feminine.
In recent years, our Guyanese Women Football Administrators have attained international recognition and our Women Football Teams have also done us proud as a Nation both locally and internationally.
On the occasion of this International Women’s Day, we pause to recognise and congratulate our Women for the sterling contributions in Football and other Sporting activities; and for the sacrifices and strides they have made in every sphere of human endeavour in moulding Nations, and for their distinguished leadership.
