Known for their benevolence and goodwill the principals of the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club and Sports Facilities (RCMTC&SF) at Alness Corentyne Berbice have extended their compassion to two well known charity and social services organisations in Berbice to assist them with their fund raising venture. The two organizations the Phoenix and Ituni Lodges will be the beneficiaries of a one day Horserace meet slated for Sunday 25th March at the track at Alness Corentyne Berbice.
With the call being a charity one, a number of organisations including Banks DIH Limited has so far responded positively to the cause and has already thrown their support behind the meet. A number of entries have also started to roll in for the one day sprint meet which will see all the funds garnered going to charity.
Eight races are listed on the day’s cards with the E and lower event slated to be the top race on the day’s programme. The 1400M event has as it first prize $250,000 and trophy at stake.
The other events listed are the G & Lower category, 1400M with a winning purse of $180,000 and trophy.
The 3yrs old race for Guyana Bred Horses over 1300M for a top prize of $175,000 and trophy.
The H & Lower 1400M races with winnings set at $140,000 and trophy. The I2 and lower race has a winning purse of $110,000 and is a 1300M event.
There is a race for I3 horses that won one race for a pole position takings of $100,000 over 1400M. The J and K class horses will gallop over a distance of 1300M for their winning take of $90,000.
The final event is for horses classified L and lower which has a winning purse of $70,000 with the distance also being 1300M.
Top individual performers including champion and runner up Jockeys, top stable and trainers will be presented with accolades compliments of Businessman Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall, Bourda Market and the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club and Sports Facilities.
A number of the country’s top horses including a number of new imports are expected to be on show and the event is expected to bring the top sprinters in the various categories in the country in action.
The races will be run under the Guyana Horse Racing Authority Rules and some of the conditions which the activity will be held under are. Race time is 13:00 hrs.

Other racing dates for the club are Sunday 1st July, Sunday 23th September and Sunday 25th November.
