The long delayed GuyOil / Tradewind Tankers True Champions Volleyball Tournament is set to resume tomorrow with semi-final action, at the National Gymnasium, starting from 16:00 hrs.
The tournament which was interrupted late last year to facilitate repairs to the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall will now be played on the newly laid Taraflex Floor at the National Gymnasium and volleyball fans are being urged to come out and witness a true exhibition of skills among some of the best teams in the country.
According to a release from the Organisers, the games will be played in three formats, the 2’s, 4’s and 6’s and the teams in the semis include the unbeaten Young Achievers, Castrol Strikers, Port Mourant Training School and Port Mourant Jaguars.
Young Achievers are undefeated locally over the past three years and recently won the Inter-Club Tournament in Suriname, defeating some of the best teams in both the host country and French Guiana.
The release added that the two teams with the best record at the end of the day will advance to the final set for March 17, while the other two will battle for third place.
Over $200,000 in cash and prizes are up for grabs.
The fixtures are: Young Achievers #1 seed takes on #4 seed Castrol Strikers, while Port Mourant Training School #2 seed battles #3 seed Port Mourant Jaguars.
Entry to the venue is free, while drinks and snacks will be on sale throughout the day.
