Former Region Six Executive Officer, Desmond Kissoon, was at the centre of an investigation resulting from the purchase of a low bed. He was subsequently dismissed.
He moved to the courts to contest the publication by Kaieteur News citing character defamation. Although many investigations support the conclusion reached by Kaieteur News, there was one aspect which this newspaper conceded, the fact that Mr Kissoon had nothing to do with the inspection of the low bed.
In fact, this investigation was done by a Mr. Everad Providence who was attached to the Ministry of Public Works. Providence also served a stint with the Region Six administration.
Kaieteur News therefore unqualifiedly retracts the article published on April 8, 2008 and offers an apology to Mr. Kissoon.
