When the other Horserace clubs are struggling to get their entities dry and in order for due to the inclement weather, the The Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club and Sports Facilities (RCMTC&SF) can boast of their ability to conduct race meets, due to the superior quality of their racetrack and its ability to drain and dry quickly. As such the RCMTC&SF and the Phoenix and Ituni Lodges have planned a Grand one day Fund raising Horserace meet for Sunday March 25 at the club’s Alness Corentyne racetrack.
Eight races are listed on the day’s programme with the E and lower event slated to be the top race. The 1400M event has as it first prize $250,000 and trophy at stake.
The other events listed are the G & Lower category over 1400M with a winning purse of $180,000 and trophy.
The 3yrs old race for Guyana Bred Horses over 1300M for a top prize of $175,000 and trophy.
The H & Lower 1400 M races with winnings set at $140,000 and trophy. The I2 and lower race has a winning purse of $110,000 and is a 1300M event.
There is a race for I3 horses that has won one race for a pole position takings of $100,000 over 1400M. The J and K class horses will gallop over a distance of 1300M for their winning take of $90,000.
The final event is for horses classified L and lower which has a winning purse of $70,000 with the distance also being 1300M.
Top individual performers including champion and runner up Jockeys, top stable and trainers will be presented with accolades compliments of Businessman Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall, Bourda Market and the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club and Sports Facilities.
All proceeds of the race meet will go strictly to charity. A number of the country’s top horses including a number of new imports are expected to be on show. Race time is 13:00hrs.
