Residents of Reliance Village, Essequibo Coast, are fearful of the huge reptiles that are plaguing the area, especially by the entrance to the Nursery School situated in the Scheme.
The area that is surrounded by bush which residents complain is a safe haven for snakes and caimans.
On Friday, residents managed to shoot one of the reptiles, which was seen crawling on the dam by the Nursery School at Reliance.
“It is dangerous for the children who have to traverse this same dam to get to school.”
Residents are also calling for the trenches around the school to be cleaned.
Meanwhile at the Land of Plenty Nursery School, teachers were scared out of their wits as they were confronted by a large camoudie which had sought comfort in a stove.
According to reports, a teacher was shaken after she attempted to light the stove and discovered the reptile hiding inside. It took the effort of Wildlife exporter, Mohamed Nazmul, to capture the reptile.
