The Kitty Jamaat Masjid Dojo recently held a successful Under-19 Judo competition
at their Kitty Masjid, Alexander Street, Kitty. A total of 15 competitors were in attendance with the host Dojo having the most competitors.
Rising Sun Dojo, based at Marian Academy, was represented by three (3) athletes and between them they won a total of five (5) medals; Raul Lall (minus 66kgs) won gold in the Open Under-19 category and also copped the prize for the best technique.
Jaime Jabar, who also represents Guyana in swimming, showed his versatility by taking the bronze medal in the Open Under-19 category. Also hauling in a bronze medal was A. Rodrigues in the open Under-19 class.
Meanwhile, Jaime Jabar has been voted by his peers at the Rising Sun Dojo as top Judoka for the month of February. Instructor at Rising Sun is Bruce Fraser.
