Officials of the GABBF’s yesterday afternoon at the Bank of Guyana during their interaction with the bodybuilders.
the first Guyana Amateur Body Building Federation meeting for the athletes by the executive members to inform them on the ongoing discussions for the year and also on their requirements that should be met as athletes.
The new committee which comprises of Moressa Oscar, Videsh Sookram, Jamie McDonald, Kevon Bess (President), Hugh Ross (Vice President), Alison Yhapp, Randolph Morgan and Aubrey Henry engaged in a interaction with the athletes rather than just a meeting.
Points which were deliberated during the interaction were the Intermediate and Novice Championship which is slated for March 31 at the Theater Guild, the Seniors Championship on June 16, the Hugh Ross Classic which is set for July 18 and the Flex Night International which is staged for December 8.
Vice President Hugh Ross of GABBF stated that sub events will also be held to get the athletes fully prepared for the major events.
Ross also highlighted that sub events which will assist the athletes’ state of competitiveness, will help them fine tune and be more ready for the major competitions.
Ross further dictated to the athletes that the mini-competitions will assist tremendously with their metal preparation, and this is where the Federation work become easier in terms of selection of an athlete to represent the country as these small shows will gauge their performance for the bigger meets both national and international.
GABBF President Kevon Bess is hoping that the bodybuilders grab the best of all that is laid out on the plate for them this year.
Bess said that Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Dr. Frank Anthony is very enthusiastic about the Federation’s approach and has pledged his support to the sport.
General Secretary, Sookram believes that bodybuilders should take a professional approach in their uniformity which reveals their identity for the New Year, especially for the major competitions.
Kaieteur Sport was also made to understand that a training course will be conducted by the Vice President Ross to share his wealth of knowledge to educate the bodybuilders on the essential things (nutritional foundation) they might not know. No date was given as to when the course will commence.
